ASSESSING THE ENTREPRENEURIAL SKILLS OF THE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF ASIA AND THE PACIFIC STUDENTS IN PREPARATION FOR BUSINESS INCUBATION PROGRAM

Abstract

Business incubation introduces college students to real-world business environments, providing a chance on track from the academic settings of education. Business incubation being a key drive for new ventures, this study aimed to assess the entrepreneurial skills in preparation for business incubation program in the chosen courses of the International School of Asia and the Pacific students for this could be a help, for them to know more and equipped them with sufficient knowledge about business incubation as well as to help them identify new opportunities that might help them in putting new ventures. This study was conducted by the ISAP students in certain courses with 304 in population. From this, 168 participants were selected using stratified random sampling method. It used descriptive-inferential research design and was utilized by a structured questionnaire. The data gathered was analyzed with the use of frequency count, percentage distribution, weighted mean, ANOVA, and Pearson-r. Accordingly, the students in this study have a general positive interpretation on entrepreneurial mindset, leadership and communication skills, business management, and entrepreneurial education. Additionally, students shown readiness for business incubation, particularly in risk management, market and research analysis, innovative thinking and problem solving, mentorship and support, and financial management and resource allocation. Hence, there is a significant difference to the entrepreneurial skills and the level of preparedness to undergo business incubation according to entrepreneurial mindset, business management, and financial management and resource allocation based on year level. However, there is no significant differences were observed based on age, sex, and course. From this, there is a significant relationship on the entrepreneurial skills and level of preparedness to undergo business incubation. The result in this study implies that the entrepreneurial skills can help to improve their level of preparedness to undergo business incubation. It indicates that the entrepreneurial skills variables can be a factor on their readiness to undergo business incubation.
