STRATEGIES OF LOGISTICS COMPANIES IN METRO MANILA ON CUSTOMS CLEARANCE DELAY AND ITS AFFECTING FACTORS

The study gives valuable information for analysing and determining the contributory factors affecting delay. In the context of assessing the strategies which will be beneficial to the operational activities of Logistics Companies particularly in Customs Clearance processing. And with the clients that will help them be aware in such delays that happened. The study was based on the study of DHL Express which covers the contributory factors affecting the customs clearance delay. This was a descriptive survey study which aimed to determine the strategies of logistics companies in Metro Manila when it comes to the processing of clearance and the contributory factors to be consider on customs clearance delay. A total of 12 respondents which were the partner agency of ISAP- Customs Administration Department and a self-made questionnaire was used to collect data from them. The statistical analysis of data included Frequency count and Percentage Distribution, Weighted mean, and Regression Analysis. The general findings of the study were that most of the companies operates more than 10 years with 58.30 percent. Hence, in terms of type of company both freight forwarding and logistics company, and Logistics and Brokerage company has the highest frequency with 25 percent. Most of the respondents agreed on the assessment of contributory factors affecting customs clearance delay in terms of the HTS code error, inaccurate description, incorrect country of origin which were marked “Agree” except on the value difference and inadequate information which were marked “Disagree” by the respondents. In the assessment of strategies of companies on customs clearance delay, all of the respondents marked “Strongly Agree” with all of the mentioned strategies. On the analysis of the respondents’ strategies in terms of in correct country of origin and the contributory factors affecting delay in terms of inadequate information are significantly related. The researchers recommend the future researchers working on the same or similar topics as this study to cover a larger number or respondents, present a larger number of factor variables, relate their topic to the current events, and provide a more detailed gathering tool to build a better study on this foundation.
