THE GLIMPSE OF FUTURE: UNZIPPING THE IMPACT OF SUCCESS PLUS AS A GUIDING DIRECTION TO THE ISAP ALUMNI

Abstract

Career is a profession, and it is a part of human life. It is one of the priorities and goals of a person, and this is something that needs to be built. Seminars are among the most prominent and widely utilized programs, particularly in promoting and educating individuals about the importance of careers. Numerous institutions, particularly colleges and universities, implement career-related seminars to prepare students for their transition from school to the workplace. The aim of this research study was to determine the impact of the Success Plus Seminar (a career-related seminar) on the ISAP alumni. Specifically, it aimed to describe the experiences of the alumni in the seminar and how the seminar guided the alumni in their career paths. The study used a descriptive phenomenological research design and utilized purposive sampling in selecting respondents. Data were gathered from a sample of 25 alumni of the International School of Asia and the Pacific through an online interview using semi-structured interview questions. The data analysis involved the application of the Colaizzi method. The results showed that through the seminar, the alumni were able to learn how to trust themselves, in time, which taught them the value of patience, and to trust other people, which helps in building humility through companionship and may also enhance interpersonal skills. Moreover, this study was also found to be transformative, directing the alumni's transformation into the best version of themselves. The findings also determined that it empowered the alumni as an eye-opener in the real-world scenario, developing a positive mindset, and opening them to accept challenges that lead them to success by being brave and determined. Most importantly, this study showed that the seminar greatly contributes to alumni preparation by guiding them to be more prepared to battle in the long run of life through improved self-control and having the right attitude and thorough understanding. In general, the major impact of the Success Plus seminar was perceived as a guiding direction for the alumni.
