Abstract

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, schools implemented hybrid learning, presenting challenges for students who needed coping strategies. This approach combined in-person and remote learning, resulting in technical issues, unreliable internet access, and distractions at home. Students adapted with new skills to succeed in this environment. This study examines the challenges and coping strategies of ISAP students in their Nihongo subject during hybrid learning. The research focused on ISAP students across different courses who took Nihongo during this modality, with 73 respondents selected via stratified random sampling. Statistical tools like frequency count, percentage distribution, weighted mean, ANOVA, T-test, and Tearson’s R were used for data analysis. The study found significant differences in Nihongo subject assessment among respondents based on profile variables. Students reported strategies such as "devoting more effort to study" and "asking and reaching out to teachers" as helpful for achieving good performance. The researchers recommend students maintain open communication to gain insights and deepen their subject understanding.
